Getting Here

By Train

The closest train station to the Heugh Battery Museum is Hartlepool Train Station. For more information on this station please visit the Northern Rail website by clicking here.

By Bus

The Heugh Battery Museum is situated on the Stagecoach Hartlepool Number 7 bus. Visitors can get to the Museum by getting off on the final stop in Headland Town Square. The Museum is then just a short walk from the bus stop to the Museum entrance.

The Number 7 bus can also be used to travel back into Hartlepool Town Centre, where connecting buses and other methods of travel will be available.

Things to Note

The Heugh Battery Museum is fully dog-friendly throughout, dogs are welcome in our café, too. Dogs must be kept on a lead.

All visitors under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Parking at the Heugh Battery Museum is free, however, spaces are limited.

If you would like to make a donation to the museum during your visit, please consider Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer. Thank you.

Poppy Cafe

Open Saturday and Sunday at Heugh Battery Museum, 10.00am – 3.30pm.

Poppy Café provides a warm welcome to everyone. Serving delicious home-baked cakes, tempting scones and a selection of tasty hot and cold sandwiches and snacks, as well as range of coffee and cold drinks.

Walkers, cyclists and visitors out for a drive are all welcome to call into the Poppy Café. You do not have to pay museum entrance fees in order to pop in for a drink or bite to eat, but we do ask that you do not stroll into the museum grounds without paying for a ticket.

The café is fully accessible via a ramp. Dogs are welcome. Those who prefer to eat al fresco can either shelter from the winds in our walled picnic area or take in the fabulous views from our tables on the grass overlooking the sea.

Poppy Café is available for hire for meetings or small parties. A unique place for a get together! Room hire is just £12 per hour and you can have catering provided or bring in your own. Please call 01429 270 746 to discuss your plans with us.
