Vanguard 13th century Medieval Reenactment

Saturday 15th August 2026

10am until 4pm

Venue: Heugh Battery Museum

Entry fee: £5 adult £3 child

Join in the excitement of the melee as knights step forth into tournament under colourful banners, their Levies and Serjeants in attendance.  Who will be the victor?

Joining the knights are the battlefield followers, the women and men who cook, tend injured knights and keep weapons and clothing clean and ready for use.  Learn about everyday life in the 13th century, the food and drink, customs and laws.

Also here are Comitatus Aquila, the medieval medics, who specialise in 12th/13th century medicine.  Come along and see the surgeons tools and hear about the medicines you would be offered to ward off evil sprits and the common cold!

As an antidote to battles and barbaric surgery, King Arthur and his trusty friend, Merlin, will be here to provide some light-hearted entertainment for everyone.

Great day out for all the family.

Times of tournaments to be confirmed.
